Following is a list of emotional
intelligence skills that will be developed during the coaching sessions:
- Establish a base of insight using the a self-assessment of: knowledge,
skills and abilities
- Apply skills to:
- Read other people to identify emotions
- Use emotions to create an environment where others take action
- Predict emotional responses and neutralize them before they become
the focal point
- Use emotions to express passion and commitment
- Identify "automatic" self-talk messages that produce that
first emotional response
- Use assertive communications skills when others are being irrational
- Use adult responses when someone is behaving as a parent or a child
- Help others act and respond in an emotionally intelligent way
Application
- Leadership. Of the three areas of competency; cognitive skills, expertise,
and emotional intelligence, being emotionally intelligent is deemed
to account for 80-90% of what differentiates effective leaders.
- Diversity. Being emotionally intelligent takes diversity past the
tolerance stage to one of enhanced creativity: using all of your human
capital.
- Persuading and Influencing. Anyone attempting to convince, argue,
negotiate, or lead a team uses emotional intelligence. The degree by
which they are emotionally intelligent will be a deciding factor in
performance.
