NAAAHR Detroit Chapter Meeting Presentation: Six Sigma Coaching Process and Human Resources

Southfield, MI. January, 2005 - Ed Pritchard, partner at Everest Training & Consulting, and Todd Sperl, Manager Workforce Assessment and Improvement St. John Health, presented Six Sigma Coaching in H.R. at the monthly Detroit Chapter meeting of the National Association of African Americans in Human Resources.

Over 50 Chapter members heard Ed and Todd discuss how Human Resource Managers can be a strategic coach in bringing Six Sigma Process Improvement into their organizations. The case studies shared in the presentation demonstrated how Human Resource Managers went beyond the traditional Six Sigma involvement (hiring Black Belts, establishing performance measures and career paths) by describing how Human Resource coaches implemented Six Sigma to improve their own HR processes of hiring, turnover, etc. Todd Sperl detailed the St. John Health implementation that embraced Workout and CAP from GE to get practitioners involved in the process and to realize quick, measurable successes without extensive data gathering and measurement.

Rodney Bellamy, Associate Director Employee/Labor Relations at HAP stated, "We really appreciated the wealth of knowledge Ed and Todd brought to us! This is just the type of presentation that will motivate our members to take action within their organizations."

Everest Training & Consulting received high marks for their presentation of "Coaching Six Sigma in HR" at the 2004 Society of Human Resource Managers Michigan State Conference.
