"The assertive
communication skills team training I attended in Dayton, Ohio earlier
this month was packed with some very good tools that I am putting to use
already. It was very informative and I was able to identify some specific
areas within myself to work on to become a more effective team member."

To meet the challenges of success
in the work place, one skill continues to underlie all others: the ability
to display effective communication skills with customers, coworkers, superiors
and subordinates. Without good, effective communication skills, all other
functions in the workplace suffer. This course provides the assertive
communication skills needed in the business environment to be: fair, ethical,
focused on the objectives of the enterprise and help maintain self-esteem.
Case studies and interactive group work are used to develop assertive
communication skills in the workplace to address difficult or conflict
situations. These assertive communication skills include successful negotiation
between departments and with customers so that everyone is satisfied.
The course reviews case studies and practices assertive communication
skills techniques with a business negotiation focus that include: how
to leverage the law of reciprocity, when to make the first offer, when
and how to make concessions and when to say no. Skills in verbal and nonverbal
effective communication habits are reviewed and practiced. The DISC personality
test profile is used as a tool in the training to assist in analyzing
and understanding communication style behavior of individuals involved
in the assertive communication techniques process.
